Single rooms sleeping
one
Twin and double rooms sleeping 1-2
Room only
The Residence welcomes guests from all over the civilised world,
with hordes of homos attracted by its winning combination of
affordability, location and quality. First off, you’ll find yourself
staying in a prime town centre location, just a few minutes’ walk
from dozens of gay and gay friendly venues, and just five minutes
from the train station for those day trips to Barcelona.
So, what do you get for your money? Well, it depends what room you
go for as there are a few different types, with each of them
individually decorated, and so maybe not looking exactly like the
pics you can see here, but still with the following common features:
• Remote control air
conditioning
• Remote control satellite TV
• Ensuite bath or shower room
• Tea and coffee making facilities
• Fridge
Your room will be
cleaned and your towels will be replaced every day of the week, and
you’ll be given fresh bed linen twice a week.
We call this property
a ‘residence’ rather than a ‘hotel’ because, with the exception of a
great roof terrace there aren’t any public rooms. You’re given a key
to the main door as well as to your own room, and from then on in
you can come and go as you please, and that includes inviting new
pals back to play.
Before we go, a
quick word of advice. If you fancy a room with a double bed AND a
balcony/terrace, you really should book as soon as you can as there
are only two rooms in this category and they’re by far the most
popular choice of Respect’s discerning clientele.

Standard studios

Superior studios sleeping 1-3
Superior one bedroom apartments sleeping 2-6
Two bedroom apartments sleeping 2-5
Two bedroom/two bathroom apartment sleeping 2-6
Self catering
The Tara offers a
choice of accommodation type (more about that later) and is situated
about ten minutes’ walk from the centre of town and no more than
about five minutes from the beach. There’s an extensive lawn
bordered by six foot high ivy hedges and an inviting swimming pool.
Only three storeys high (no lift – sorry), every apartment has a
pool view. Whichever one you choose, features common to them all
include:
• Furnished balcony or terrace
• Satellite TV
• Washing machine
• Complimentary safety deposit box
• Kettle
• Ironing board and iron
• Electric cooling fans
• Pool view
• Weekly maid service
Superior
studios sleeping 1-3
Rosario (ground floor)
Teresa (ground floor)
Maruja (first floor)
Paquita (first floor)
These spacious studio apartments are by far the most sought after of
all the Tara options. They all feature good sized double beds
(probably the main reason why they’re so popular) as well as a sofa
bed in the living area for a third guest. Because there’s so much
more room in these studios than in their standard counterparts or,
for that matter, than in a lot of one bedroom apartments, you’ll
find that there’s more wardrobe space and more furniture in general
for lounging around and looking beautiful on.
Superior one
bedroom apartments sleeping 2-6
Javier (ground floor)
Angel (first floor)
Furnished in sleek, modern pine, these superior one bedroom
apartments are really quite unusual in that, although there’s just
the one double bedroom, there are also two living areas; one has a
double sofa bed, and the other has two singles. This design quirk
means that up to six people can occupy these apartments perfectly
comfortably (great value), but they’re also very popular with
couples who appreciate a lot of living space in high quality
surroundings and who have a bit of extra cash to donate to Paul and
Rob’s beer fund.
Kitchen facilities in these apartments are extensive: you’ll get a
proper kitchen rather than a kitchenette (full cooker, big
fridge/freezer), plus a dining room with a table and half a dozen
chairs.
Two bedroom apartments sleeping 2-5
Manolo (ground floor)
Paco (first floor)
Jose II (second floor)
This category of apartment sleeps up to five people; that’s four in
the bedrooms with the punter who drew the short straw on a sofa bed
in the comfortable living room. The well-equipped kitchenette has a
full fridge/freezer, an oven with four cooking rings and you have a
choice of sleeping arrangements: Manolo and Paco have one twin room
(i.e. two single beds) and one double bedroom, while Jose II has one
double bedroom and a twin room with a single bed and a pull out bed.
Don’t forget to ask for the apartment you think will be most
suitable for you when you book, otherwise our computer will allocate
your accommodation at random when you reservation is confirmed. |

Single rooms
(Romantic only)
Twin rooms sleeping 1-2
Bed and breakfast
Probably the most famous hotels in all Sitges, these two properties
have been part of the fabric of the Sitges scene for ages and, as
such, attract loyal customers from all over the world.
Located just a few minutes from the centre of town and no more than
about two minutes’ walk from the beach, the Romantic’s delightful
19th century exterior is mirrored by its interior of mosaic floors,
chandeliers, sculpture, painting and pottery, much of it– according
to Sitges legend – donated by impoverished artists in days of yore
in lieu of paying their bill.
This artistic heritage is evident not only in the Romantic’s public
rooms but also in its bedrooms, all of which are different. Some are
larger than others, some have balconies while others don’t, but all
rooms allocated to Respect have an ensuite bathroom. Single rooms,
incidentally, are interior with almost no natural light, so if
you’re travelling solo you’ll need to bear this in mind. Air
conditioning, sadly, is not on the agenda at either hotel, but all
rooms come equipped with electric fans which in most cases are those
big ceiling mounted affairs.
The bar at the
Romantic is one of the town’s best-loved drinkeries (inexpensive,
well-stocked and friendly) and you’ll love the mature gardens where
you can enjoy your breakfast of a morning or a bit of early evening
boozing to set you up for a night out.
Just opposite the Romantic is where you’ll find the Hotel de la
Renaixenca. Similar to the Romantic, although not quite as ornately
decked out, the Renaixenca offers a higher degree of privacy in that
it has no reception or restaurant facilities; instead, these are
provided at the Romantic. There is, nevertheless, an intimate little
bar, a wonderful garden (complimentary sun beds provided) and a
great suntrap of a roof terrace.
Maid service is the same, whichever property you choose: daily
cleaning, daily towel change and twice-weekly linen change. We
strongly recommend that you rent a safety deposit box from
reception. |

high quality aparthotel, which means that you get all the benefits

a balcony from which you can enjoy some great views over the port.
If you opt for a one bedroom apartment you can request either twin
beds or a double, while the two bedroom apartments have a double bed
in one room and twin beds in the other. Maid service, which includes

Breakfast is included
in your holiday price and is really quite impressive: an extensive

orders isn’t until 11am.
The Port Sitges’ high
standards are sure to push all the right buttons, and this quality
is reflected in the hotel’s general facilities. These include a 24

feet!), a beautifully decorated bar and restaurant, plus a Jacuzzi
and fitness centre with free use for all guests |
